Deadly fire in Verona

VERONA, Miss. (WLOV) - A deadly fire happened overnight in Verona - just before 3 a.m.Saturday.

Carolyn Gillentine-Green, the Lee county coroner, said the body of 18-year-old Jamal Wells was found inside a home on Jones Street.

The coroner said the victim lived there with his mother, who was not home at the time.Wells was the only person in the house, according to Gillentine-Green.

Masoli ruled eligible; Lockett to return next week

The Ole Miss football program received two pieces of good news Friday.

First, defensive end Kentrell Lockett is expected to return for next week's Tulane game. He's been experiencing heart rhythm issues.

The other good news for the Rebels involves Jeremiah Masoli. It turns out the quarterback can now play for the Rebels immediately.

The NCAA had ruled that the former Oregon quarterback had to sit out a season after enrolling at Ole Miss. But after an appeal Friday morning, an NCAA subcommittee ruled that Masoli can play this season. MORE...
