More layoffs in Clay County |

CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (WLOV) As work winds down on its latest military contract, Clay County employer Navistar has started laying off its workers. Nearly 350 people will be out of a job now that the one thousand and 50 Maxx-Pro mine resistant armored vehicles have been built. Layoff started earlier this week. Approximately 500 people work at the facility, but those numbers fluctuate depending on the number of contracts being handled in West Point. |

Columbus Public Works alters schedule |

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WLOV) It's back to a five day work week for Columbus Public Works employees. The workers have been on a four-day schedule since July 2008. Officials say the move will cut down on the number of hours workers are exposed to the heat. |

City of Starkville considers four day work week |

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WLOV) Budget worries may force the city of Starkville to move to a four-day work week. That's one of the ideas being considered to help save the city money. A local newspaper reports the move was discussed during a meeting by the city budget committee yesterday. |

MUW professor wins big on Jeopardy |

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WLOV) She is a professor of English but a question about religion ended the two day run of Dr. Nora Corrigan on Jeopardy. Corrigan was in first place entering the Final Jeopardy round, but missed the question. The MUW professor ended the show in third place. Corrigan's two day total winnings were over 28 thousand dollars. |
