FNF: Week 2
It's already week two of the high school football season, with several area games being played on Thursday. Baldwyn defeated Booneville 41-12 to win the Skunk Bowl, Walnut defeated Falkner 28-21 to win the Joe Bowl, and South Panola defeated West Point 14-10.

Friday night promises to deliver some excellent matchups as well, including our Game of the Week, Pontotoc at Saltillo. The Tigers opened with an impressive win over DeSoto Central, while the Warriors will to try to respond after losing at home to Houston. Andy Lee will be live from Saltillo at 5 and 6, and we'll have highlights and postgame reaction at 10.

That's just scratching the surface. Tupelo finally debuts the "smurf turf" as the Golden Wave hosts Center Hill.

Oxford has also new turf, except it's not blue. The Chargers host Starkville in what is arguably the best matchup in the state this week.

East Union doesn't have artificial turf, but the Urchins have a new stadium, and their opener is against Middleton, Tenn.

Other games we're covering include Nettleton at Mooreville, Itawamba AHS at New Albany, Belmont at Mantachie, Smithville at Hatley, Calhoun City at Houston, Corinth at Lafayette County, Senatobia at Amory, Potts Camp at Bruce, Vardaman at South Pontotoc, Houlka at Okolona and Delta Academy at Calhoun Academy.

Be sure to watch "Friday Night Fever" at 10:15 every Friday on WTVA!

Another big night of football on the docket!
Last week, this Texan was introduced to the 'Friday Night Lights' of North Mississippi.  Week two promises to be every bit as exciting as week one.

Pontotoc at Saltillo headlines our coverage tonight.  The Warriors will have revenge on their minds after losing to the Tigers 41-0 last year in Pontotoc.

The Friday Night Fever team is VERY excited for the 'little egg bowl' in Oxford.  Starkville and Oxford are two of the best teams in the state and we expect to see them playing at Davis Wade well into December.  Starkville wide receiver Raphael Leonard is a nightmare for defenses to cover.  Leonard torched Noxubee County for 50 yards and a TD in the opener.

Those are just two of the fifteen games on our busy schedule tonight.  Join Jim Holder and me at 10:15 for a complete recap of the night in football.
